Pianeta Terra in Amsterdam has been included in the prestigious ranking 50 Top Italy – Best Italian Restaurants in the World (50topitaly.it) for the fifth consecutive year, at the 31st position. This year, the restaurant is one of only two in the Netherlands to receive this international recognition — a remarkable achievement. The other Dutch restaurant on the list is Aroma in Vaassen at position 48, making Pianeta Terra the highest-ranked Italian restaurant in the Netherlands according to the 50 Top Italy jury.
The award was officially presented during the Gran Galà della Cucina Italiana on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Teatro Manzoni in Milan, where the global ranking was festively unveiled.
This special moment coincides with another milestone: in 2025, Pianeta Terra celebrates its 25th anniversary, a jubilee that the team will continue to honor throughout the year.
The “50 Top Italy” jury praises Pianeta Terra as:
“A successful example of an Italian restaurant abroad, without retro-nostalgia or gastronomic prejudices, capable of translating a contemporary project. Here, you not only eat well, you also feel good, thanks to a refined and tasteful interior with subtle lighting that makes the whole feel warm and familiar. The creative cuisine with an Italian soul is presented via an à la carte selection and a 4- or 5-course chef’s menu, featuring interesting pasta dishes, flavorful main courses, and very balanced desserts. Ethics and sustainability – from organic products to local suppliers and small Italian producers who work carefully – give the restaurant its very own signature.”
That signature is the result of the work of chef Fabio Antonini, who since the opening in 2000 has developed a modern, seasonal cuisine with Italian roots and Dutch ingredients. The dishes are supported by the hospitality and expert wine guidance of Laura Martini, who leads the service and guest interactions.
“We are incredibly proud of this fifth consecutive recognition,” says Fabio Antonini. “Our cuisine is constantly evolving, but always remains true to sustainability, respect for producers, and authentic Italian flavors.”
Pianeta Terra works exclusively with organic and local products, sustainable fish, and meat from small-scale farms. The wine list also emphasizes small, artisanal Italian winemakers.
With this new listing, Pianeta Terra once again underscores its role as one of the most authentic and forward-thinking Italian restaurants in the Netherlands — a restaurant that, after 25 years, continues to innovate with the same conviction.
